South 21 Drive In: A Nostalgic Dining Experience in Charlotte

We’ve been here plenty of times and always have a great experience. All of the guys are always very friendly. We especially enjoy their onion rings and the BBQ sandwich that I tried for the first time today was very good. We love this classic joint! Our boys love watching the cars drive down 74 too

I recently had a fantastic experience at South 21, a classic drive-in restaurant in Charlotte on Independence Boulevard. Open since 1955, the service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. The burgers were incredibly fresh, and even the fries were perfect and crispy. The server were so friendly and they remembered me since i have been going there a lot recently hahaha. A true gem for those craving delicious American food with a side of nostalgia. Check out the daily specials !! Not only does South 21 do great in serving fresh and delicious American food, but they also maintain impeccable cleanliness. The spacious parking lot ensures a hassle-free experience for every visitor. A great spot where you can enjoy both quality food and a comfortable environment.

We have lived in the area for 18 years and this was the first time that we stopped to give this place a try. OMG, what a great experience as you pull into an open spot and you call the number to order. You give them your station number and they bring the food out to you. Jeff was our waiter and he was so kind to us. His cheerful voice was the icing on the cake. The food was delicious and hot with great flavor. We got the Super Boy with a side of onion rings, which were amazing! We also thought it was very reasonably priced for all that we got. We will definitely be back!

I have loved South 21 since I was a kid! There is no better place for a burger and they truly have the best fries! So happy that in a world of change, the original location has stayed perfect!!

Stopped here with my wife earlier on our way to our hotel and I’m honestly glad that we did. It gave off old school drive-in vibes, so stopping here was a must. The food was great (I had the chicken tender plate with a Diet Coke). The tenders and fries were hot and crispy. I don’t know what they put in their coleslaw, but it slapped as well. The service was fast and friendly. The price wasn’t bad at all either ($26 for two meals and drinks). 1000/10 would definitely recommend stopping here.

Great place to get classic Drive In food! From Huge Burgers to Fried Chicken that’s tender and moist to Shakes and even some Seafood! Freshly made onion rings. Their Fried Chicken I could tell was marinated, which gave it a really delicious flavor right down to the bone. It’s also available with BBQ Sauce on it, but don’t wear a white shirt if getting it to eat in your car. When there is an employee (not owner, employee!) who’s been delivering food to the cars there for over 45 years, you know they treat their people well! That goes a really long way with me. Staff (for to go orders and the Kitchen) inside were friendly and passionate about giving their customers delicious and freshly prepared meals. This classic place is great!!! Their Strawberry Pie is out of this World!! Check it out. Outstanding place

I love old school restaurants. This place has been around since 1955 I think. Everything is original and I love it. I love the drive in style ordering and how they bring the food to your. The food was delicious. The service was great too. I love the nostalgia. The prices are reasonable.

What a cool throw back diner. The food was great! I think I would have enjoyed it even more on a warm day. The chicken sandwich was good quality, and the service was fast. I'll be coming back to try more of those menu items. Only draw-back is getting into the place when the hwy is busy. It's a little bit precarious when traffic is flying up behind you. Oh and the price was great!
